MindDirect is bringing ekjute to Dubai, on 2nd Aug (Centrepoint theatre –mall of the Emirates) who will put on display another masterpiece from its repertoire of drama – The play Begum Jaan. Ekjute – The theatre group established by Nadira Zaheer Babber has satiated the creative urges of Indian audiences, over a period of 25 years through its scintillating story telling abilities through the medium of theatre. Begum Jaan is directed by Nadira Zaheer Babber who is a a very well renowned and respected member of the Indian theatre community , in the capacity of an actress and as well as director. It is written by Javed Siddiqui who needs no introduction to the patrons of theatre world. The cast includes, besides Nadira Zaheer Babber, her daughter Juhi Babber who has come into her own as a theatre personality and also has films to her credit. Begum Jaan is a story of an octogenarian former singer (played by Nadira Zaheer Babber) living a quite life with her granddaughter –Zarina( Juhi Babber). Begum Jaan’s life suddenly comes alive when a journalist enters their lives. His interest is to gain access to letters in possession of Begum Jaan written to her by such famous public figures as Maulana Azad, Jawaharlal Nehru . The journalist tries to look for romantic angle in those letters. The interesting plot that develops will hold the audience spellbound through its scintillating wit and humor . The story tugs at your heart strings as it captures the relationship between Begum Jaan, her granddaughter and the prying journalist.
