The 3rd edition of UAE’s biggest online quiz contest has just concluded with a fitting finale to such a massive initiative for students in the UAE. Just to give you an idea of the magnitude of Siemens Mobile e-Quiz lets have a look at the numbers’ 28,768 students, 47 schools, prize value of 200,000 AED up for grabs, 25 road shows, 14 corporate partners, 6 countries (UAE, Bahrain, Saudi, Oman, Qatar & Kuwait) and 48 distributor outlets. Siemens Mobile e-Quiz has become the flag bearer of quizzing combining the power of the Internet (online quizzing) with a real world experience (offline finals). Aimed at 8 – 18 year olds, Siemens Mobile e-Quiz 2004 has grown from strength to strength over the past three years’ to become UAE’s biggest online quiz competition for students.

Siemens Mobile e-Quiz rolls out in three phases:
  • Phase 1 : Launch of Book of knowledge
    Participants use the unique number in the book to take part online 60% of the questions are based on the book of knowledge
  • Phase 2: Siemens Mobile e-Quiz live online
    Month long online quizzing
    Weekly prizes, grand prizes and other online prizes up for grabs
  • Phase 3: Grand Offline Finals
    Written eliminations for top 150 front runners from each age group

The Emirates Auditorium at Crowne Plaza was transformed into an extended recess session for school students. The buzz, the chatter, the excitement and the anticipation was evident as the 150 frontrunners’ prepared to take part in the eliminations. The elimination round was conducted by Ameet D’silva who also took to the task of warming up the crowd for the main Quizmaster of the evening. The answers session of the elimination round was an elaborate excuse to generously hand out prizes to the audience.

The tension amongst the participants was mounting to find out the eight onstage finalists. The stage was taken over by Siddartha Basu whose presence and booming voice had the audience rapt in attention. The huge cheers with every name announced was evidence of the large cheering squads brought in by the various schools. The format, questions and interactions during the finals had the crowd spell bound. The competition was intense and each round threw up a new leader. Much to the delight of the audience Siddartha Basu threw in a lot of exciting audience questions and rewarded them with big prizes. The participants were not to be disappointed as well as the finalists’ had excellent prizes up for grabs. The finale was a fitting conclusion to UAE’s biggest online quiz contest. By the end of the second show for the seniors the audience were still glued to their seat asking for more - a fitting tribute to Siddartha Basu the seasoned quizmaster. Quizzing enthusiasts – students, parents, teachers, principals and the others’ present in the audience will have to wait till next years’ edition of this annual quizzing jamboree.
