Dubaiquiz.com, the portal in the business of creating knowledge properties through innovative quizzing models, announced that Maps Geosystems’ team of Nikhil Soneja and Feroz Abdul Kadar have won this year’s Samsung c:\Brain Challenge held on 15th June at Emirates Auditorium in Crowne Plaza. The event, held in association with Dubai Internet City (DIC), gives corporate professionals around the region the opportunity to network and test their general knowledge.
“We had a tremendous response to the challenge this year with over 85-90 entries for the competition,” said Jamshed Mehdi, CEO, Dubaiquiz.com. “Some of these were from the sub-continent and had to be disqualified.”
Sixty five teams of two players each were selected to undergo the elimination round through a written competition from which the final six teams qualified for the final round on-stage conducted by Siddhartha Basu, who returned as Quizmaster for this year’s show.
In addition to the winners from Maps Geosystems, Ashley Azavedor and Ajay Dasani from HSBC who finished second with 75 points. At third place were Maddy Reddy and Srinivasan from ITP with 70 points. RM Sriram and Suresh Naik from Citibank shared fourth place honours with Neil George and Tim Clarke from Reckitt Benckiser team with 45 points each. Paul Kumar and D Chandrashekar of Emirates Trading Agency made up the last of the six finalists.
“One of the reasons for this year’s success is the generic nature of the Brain Challenge,” pointed out Mehdi. Unlike the inaugural quiz last year, this year most of the questions were generic with only one segment dedicated to IT. “This format was well received by both participants and the audience and we will continue this format next year,” he promised.
Prizes totaling over AED 100,000 were distributed during the show to both the winners and the audience.
